Welcome Note
We hope you will enjoy this very nice and convenient area. On Ocean Boulevard in the village, there is a Morton's Siesta Market open seven days a week. Take Avenida Navarra down to Avenida Messina, take a right on Messina, and you should be able to see it straight ahead of you once you reach Ocean Boulevard. Also, you will find a Beach Bazaar just opposite Morton's which will have any beach supplies you may need and is also a fun shop for children especially.
There are excellent restaurants in the village; Seafood, Italian, French and Asian among others. There are also ice cream parlors and many wonderful gift shops.
There are many fun things to do on the island of Siesta Key and in Sarasota. Tennis, golf, boating, massage, jet skiing, parasailing, fishing, bicycling, roller-skating and perhaps just walking the beautiful white sand beach. We have Selby Gardens, Jungle Gardens and the Ringing Museum of Art. We also have the Marina Jacks and the downtown area with historic Burns Court, which is quite wonderful. You may see alligators in their natural habitat at Myakka River State Park, while taking an air boat ride or just strolling through the park. Make sure to visit the Historic Spanish Point as well.
Sarasota is also a very good city for the arts and theatre. Some very respectable locations that run shows all through the year include the Asolo Theatre, the Players Theatre and the Florida Studio Theatre. In addition to these great venues are our local high schools, who put up various musicals and straight plays throughout the year. Check out the famous Visual Performing Arts program at Booker High School. They present a handful of shows every year, as does Sarasota High School.
It is approximately a two hour drive to Disney World in Orlando or to Lake Okeechobee, the Everglades. It is a one hour drive to Edison's home in Ft. Myers or to Busch Gardens and Adventure Island Water Park in Tampa.
We want to thank you very much for choosing Beach Palms and wish you a pleasant stay on Siesta Key.
